In a world full of social, political, and religious turmoil, it is easy to feel like there is no peace to be found outside of ourselves. Often times, we wrestle internally too. Chasing peace in things that are fleeting, moments that lead to hurt, decisions that seemed right until they bring nothing but chaos to our hearts. We run from ourselves by grasping for peace in the things and people around us. Sometimes we even think our lives have to meet certain requirements so we can truly feel at peace.
Thankfully, we don’t have to stay enslaved to false peace.
Jesus Christ provides us with an inner peace that surpasses the peace the world offers. If we look to Him with faith, we can feel peace in any circumstance. Even when we fall and peace feels out of reach, He is right there with open arms waiting to pour more into us again. His peace never ends, you see? He just wants us to come to HIM for it so He can show us what real peace is.
Lord, we pray for an interior peace that surpasses our own understanding and is rooted only in You. We pray for those who are lonely, poor, desolate, or without, that your peace be a comfort and shield to them in their need.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:7
